Choate Elects Four to Partnership

Four Choate attorneys – Shaun Barnes, John Marshall Chambers, Shaina Wamsley London, and Rick Thide - have been elected to partnership of the firm, effective January 1, 2024.

  • Shaun Barnes is a member of the Private Equity/M&A group, representing domestic and international private equity, growth equity, and venture capital fund sponsors. Focusing on middle-market and lower-middle market firms, Shaun advises fund sponsors on all aspects of the fund formation process, including structure, key terms, marketing, and negotiations with investors, as well as advising fund sponsors and institutional investors in connection with primary fund investments and secondary transactions. Shaun also counsels clients regarding the structure and terms of their internal business arrangements, GP-led secondaries, strategic transactions, and a variety of regulatory compliance issues.  
  • John Marshall Chambers is a member of the Tax Group, providing counsel to private equity funds, venture capital funds, and technology and other strategic companies in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, and restructurings. John helps clients navigate the tax aspects of their transactions in order to achieve their business objectives, including post-acquisition integration, operational structuring, and structuring of private equity, venture capital and other investment vehicles.
  • Shaina Wamsley London is a member of the Finance & Restructuring group, counseling financial institutions and corporate borrowers in structuring complicated finance transactions, from front-end originations to workouts to bankruptcies. Shaina has depth and experience across a variety of business sectors and represents clients providing loans to sports teams and leagues, companies constructing and managing entertainment venues and other infrastructure projects, as well as retail and hospitality, software and technology, and manufacturing companies.
  • Rick Thide is a member of the Finance & Restructuring group, representing banks, finance companies, and corporate borrowers in a broad range of U.S. and multi-national commercial finance transactions. He also advises secured creditors and debtors in a variety of creditors’ rights and insolvency matters, including restructurings, workouts, and cash collateral and debtor-in-possession financings. Rick works with a wide range of clients, but has particular experience in the retail, technology, healthcare, and consumer products industries.
