Macey Russell, partner in major commercial litigation, co-wrote “Developing great minority lawyers for the next generation,” published in the July/August issue of the ACC Docket. The article identifies a troubling trend—that recent statistics show minority attorneys have been disproportionally affected by layoffs during the economic downturn—and offers practical solutions for promoting diversity in law firms and in-house law departments, as well as red-flagging common policies that may be acting to hamper diversity.
Mr. Russell is a long-time advocate for minorities in the legal profession. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly named him a 2009 “Diversity Hero,” and he co-chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee.
