Rick Thide Recognized for Excellence in the Finance Industry

Rick Thide has been named as one of the Secured Finance Network’s 40 Under 40 in recognition of his track record for excellence in the finance industry. One of only a few legal professionals selected for this recognition, this award highlights Rick’s accomplishments and leadership within Choate, as well as the larger finance community.

A Partner in Choate’s Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice, Rick represents banks, private lenders, and corporate borrowers in a broad range of U.S. and multi-national commercial finance transactions. He also advises secured creditors and debtors in a variety of creditors’ rights and insolvency matters, including restructurings, workouts, and debtor-in-possession financings. Rick works with a wide range of clients and is particularly experienced in the retail and consumer products industries.

Rick, known for his expertise and creativity in structuring and implementing complex transactions involving multiple creditor groups and other stakeholders and novel structural challenges, has played a lead role in many of the highest profile and complex transactions in our industry, shaping market terms for a variety of asset-based financing types.

This past year, Rick spearheaded and co-led multiple trainings for clients on liability management transactions and managing risks in restructurings. He also devotes time to training associates in Choate’s Finance and Restructuring practice group, including on debtor-in-possession financings, the terms and negotiation of negative covenants, and sponsor finance terms, among other topics.

During his legal career, Rick has assisted charitable organizations on a pro bono basis in applying for and obtaining 501(c)(3) tax status, such as Charlton REAS Foundation, which provides home energy assistance to senior citizens. He is also active in his local community, including participating in Winchester’s Town Meeting.

Recipients are determined through a rigorous nomination and selection process by their peers.
