Recent Developments in the NCAA’s Regulation of NIL Deals for Student-Athletes
For years, the NCAA prohibited student-athletes from receiving compensation in exchange for the use of their name, image, or likeness (NIL). That changed roughly one year ago, and NIL deals have quickly become commonplace in college sports. Over the last two few months, however, the NCAA has suggested that it is investigating whether NIL deals have, in some cases, been used as improper recruiting inducements.
